Blogging really is a silly numbers game. Seriously... we consume ourselves with the numbers. Facebook Fans. Twitter Followers. Pinterest Followers. Pageviews. Sadly enough the numbers seem to motivate us some days and yet on other days, they can completely derail us. Boooo!
Confession. I let the numbers bother me A LOT. I've actually challenged myself not to look at pageviews for a straight week on a few occasions. And you know what? Those weeks are some of my best when it comes to having my head in the game. I'm doing what I love without the numbers driving me. I beat myself up when people stop following me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I try to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Sometimes it's hard not to take it personal -- and it's just silly! If people don't want to read my tweets or see my pics on instagram, it's really not a big deal. We're just numbers driven. We want to see the numbers go up, not down. These feelings are normal (please don't tell me it's just me!).
Anywho, I had an insanely busy week, so I'm going to send you over to a series I did last year called The Numbers Game in blogging. I apologize and I hope you'll forgive me. However, if you haven't read it -- I think you'll find some helpful tidbits of information. If you have, maybe consider a refresher course. I still read through these posts when I need to regroup and get back to some of the basics. I'm still failing miserably at a few of the engagement pieces to blogging.
Rather than re-post the series here (which would not be in my best interest in regards to SEO), I figured I'd send you over to Live Laugh Rowe and you can read through those posts at your leisure. The series is broken into three parts:
Have a fantastic week, friends! Do what you do best, and...
